you will most likely need to cut as very few ranges offer 1/2 sizes and even if they did you would get shade mismatch between batches so its not the norm.
It sounds like they are non complicated straight cuts so you will need to buy a tile cutter - straight forward score and snap type will suffice but a small electric wet cutter will be needed for corners etc (about £30 to £40 upwards) - if its only a few tiles or they are complex cuts might be cheaper to go to somewhere that cuts to measure (even some Topps branches offer this service I do believe).
Be sure the walls are sealed / primed (many use diluted PVA but a latex based primer sealer is better)and use a good adhesive and separate good quality grout.
Good Luck
Check out the hints and tips page. Good article on tiling a few months back.
One thing I found useful when spacing for the horizontal lines is using string, size depending on how big you want the grout gaps to be. I used to use plastic spacers or matches untill I moved to Sweden and there everyone uses string.
Benifits are it still gives you room for slight readjustments, goes on much faster and when removing string takes out any messy adhesive that gets into the gaps leaving the finish ready for grouting.
Its great when you learn somthing useful, simple and new.

Good afternoon, hope everyone is enjoying the start of the new week at work as much as me (I hate mondays!).
I decided this weekend that i want to remove the tiles from around my bath (they have a horrible old fashioned pattern) and replace them with new tiles. The tiles are just on to walls in a simple brick pattern. I'm going to use standard white bathroom tiles.
I know the basics such as what adhesive to use and to make sure i get all the old adhesive off the wall before i start. Are there any other tips anyone can give me?
Also to obtain the brick pattern i will obviously need a number of half tiles. Is it possible to get a pack of tiles that includes these or will i have to cut the tiles?
Thanks for taking the time to read my post and hope you will be able to help a limited but enthusiastic diy fan.
